The ukulele also comes into play at some heart-warming story moments in the game, where you can play along to scripted songs. And if you feel like becoming an expert sharpshooter, you can activate the motion sensor for a more accurate aim. The slingshot also leverages some of the unique PS5 features, such as the adaptive triggers, where you’ll feel the weight of the sling at the tips of your fingers. Those will prove very useful for other activities. You can also test your aiming skills in shooting range challenges, where reaching the top score will get you a golden trophy. It’s also a useful weapon to wield against the Maano – the fabric-made creatures that have abducted Tchia’s father – to buy some time as you’re trying to find flammable items to get rid of them once and for all. We are so excited that tomorrow Tchia launches to the world, and it’s the culmination of an incredible 5-year adventure for a tiny team making a big game.Īs we’re nearing the release, we wanted to give you a final look at how we expanded on the sandbox open-world formula. It’s a launch title on PS Plus.Hi everyone, I’m Phil Crifo, Tchia’s game director and co-founder of Awaceb. Tchia will launch on Mafor PC (via Epic Games), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Still, there are plenty of memorable cultural references worth admiring in Tchia’s forests and rivers, if you’re willing to slow down and look around. Tchia leaves offers plenty of room for exploration, but might wear thin with more story-driven players. It’s always nice to see design choices with approachability and accessibility in mind, but the ability to skip so much of the gameplay undercuts the stakes and immersion somewhat. Tchia also features an auto-play mode for moments where the titular character plays to the beat of the songs in specific cutscenes, so that you can listen to the music without worrying about the rhythm game part of it. It’s supposed to be used in emergencies when you’re stuck, but really, it can be used at any time. Its gameplay is quite literally skippable - there’s a button that allows you to move onto the next major cutscene. Tchia is slow and leisurely, which may be offputting for some. On the way, she discovers lands she’s never seen and befriends new people to help her on her quest. Tre, one of their only contacts with the outside world, gives her his boat so that she can save him. Our heroine leaves her home island after her father is kidnapped by the big bad’s henchman, Pwi Dua. Tchia’s coming-of-age story and endless sailing calls to mind Wind Waker and Moana.
